Krista M. Nelson-Ganley

Attorney Krista Nelson-Ganley earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she excelled in oral advocacy as Chair of the Moot Court Board and was honored with membership in the Order of the Barristers. She also holds a Master of Arts in International Politics with a focus on International Law and Human Rights from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Women’s Studies from the University of Miami.

With more than 15 years of experience in administrative law and government affairs, Krista has developed a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding disability benefits. She began her legal career at the Social Security Administration (SSA) in 2010, where she served in multiple key roles, including Supervisory Attorney Advisor at the Office of Hearings Operations. In this capacity, she led a national team of attorneys, ensuring fair and legally sound decisions for individuals seeking disability benefits. She also played an instrumental role in training and mentoring attorneys to enhance case outcomes.

Krista later served in the Social Security Administration’s Office of Privacy and Disclosure, where she developed policy guidance on privacy laws and data governance, ensuring the protection of individuals’ personal information. She then transitioned to the Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs, where she advised Congressional members on disability-related policies, drafted legislative analyses, and provided strategic counsel for high-profile hearings. Before joining Disability Law Group, Krista served as a Hearing Officer for the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services, where she adjudicated complex disability-related appeals and ensured fair and legally sound benefit determinations.

Krista’s extensive experience in disability law, coupled with her background in government service, equips her with a unique ability to navigate the claims and appeals process effectively. She is deeply committed to advocating for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive the benefits and support they deserve. Outside of her legal work, Krista enjoys spending time with her son and dog, exploring nature through hiking and travel, and caring for her chickens.
