Erin E. Rich
Attorney

Attorney Erin E. Rich earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago. She not only graduated cum laude from both her undergraduate and law school class, she was also a recipient of a number of scholarships. During law school, Mrs. Rich was a legal intern at UDM’s Veterans Law Clinic, where she gained invaluable experience helping veterans with their disability claims. She even traveled nationally to train attorneys and develop procedures to help veterans with their cases on a pro-bono basis.

Since receiving her law degree, Erin has been laser-focused on providing compassionate service while developing and strengthening systems and processes. Motivated by her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of her clients, she joined a disability firm where she specialized in helping her clients receive the Social Security Disability benefits they deserve. She represented over 700 claimants in hearings before an Administrative Law Judge, and played an integral role in building a new practice area, veteran’s disability benefits, at the firm.

In 2015, Erin transitioned to the Social Security Administration’s Office of Appellate Operations in Baltimore, MD, where she provided invaluable legal advice to Administrative Appeals Judges on disability appeals. Erin’s proficiency in reviewing, analyzing, and recommending actions on appeals of the Social Security Act became her hallmark. Continuing her journey at the Office of Hearings Operations, Mrs. Rich donned the hats of both Attorney and Disability Examiner. Here, she made crucial determinations on claimants’ eligibility, showcasing a keen understanding of policy compliance and an unwavering commitment to fairness.

Recognized for her expertise, Erin played a pivotal role in implementing a cutting-edge case processing system at the Office of Electronic Services & Systems Integration. Collaborating with a dynamic team, she ensured the system streamlined work processes for both Administrative Law Judges and attorneys alike. Erin is not only a champion for disability rights but a powerhouse advocate known for her compassion and unique legal arguments.

Her wealth of knowledge and commitment to justice – from both private practice and government roles – brought her back to her roots in client advocacy. At Disability Law Group, Erin specializes in helping her clients win the disability benefits they deserve before the Social Security Administration from the application stage through appeals at the United States District Court level. In her free time, Erin prioritizes quality moments with her family, coaching her two daughters in basketball and on the Board of Directors for their Montessori school. She finds joy in their shared experiences and embraces adventure through travel to new places.
